Organise your shopping list by aisles/departments

Now you can organise your shopping list by aisles/departments using drag and drop technology.

Add aisles/departments on the fly and just drag ingredients into them. The relationship between the ingredient and aisle/department will be saved for future shopping lists.

New Features

Lots of new features added to Web Recipe Manager recently.

  • New drop down menu in the login area

  • Text resizer added

  • Import updated to allow the import of multiple files at one time

  • Progress bars added to the import page so you can see what files are being imported and when

NEW DROP DOWN MENU IN THE LOGIN AREA
This looks so much nicer than the old navigation bar and allows easier navigation to many more pages.

TEXT RESIZER ADDED
Now you can change the text on any page to suit your requirements. There is a choice of three sizes, just click on the A in the size you want. This setting is then saved on your computer in a cookie, so it will be remembered each time you log in. The altered text size is also reflected when you print menus, recipes or shopping lists.

IMPORT UPDATED TO ALLOW THE IMPORT OF MULTIPLE FILES AT ONE TIME
Now when you browse to files on your computer you can select as many files as you want, just so long as they are in CSV or Meal Master format.

PROGRESS BARS ADDED TO THE IMPORT PAGE SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT FILES ARE BEING IMPORTED AND WHEN
Not only can you import multiple files at once, you can also see which files are to be imported. Then when you import the progress of the import is displayed.

Enjoy

Shopping List Feature Coming

I'm currently working on a shopping list feature to add to Web Recipe Manager. A shopping list can be generated from a meal plan, or it can be created by typing in a list of items. Shopping lists can be printed, saved or deleted. You can also select ingredients to be excluded from generated shopping lists (things like water, pepper salt, etc or things you always have on hand).

It's almost done, look out for it here.

It's finally up and running

Well it's only taken 12 months, but the Web Recipe Manager website is finally up and running. It was a great experience and learning curve for me. I've been in the IT industry since I started working, but not on the web side of things. I hope it doesn't show too much :)

The site was launched in October. Since then I've added a menu planner, and just yesterday a new page where a complete recipe can be added by copying and pasting. Then it's a simple matter of selecting and tagging the recipe parts (name, ingredients, directions, etc) by clicking the appropriate button, before adding the recipe. It can then be checked before saving. I know the tagging part may be a bit of a pain, but it really helps to ensure the recipe is interpreted correctly. Of course it's never going to be 100% accurate in all cases, as recipes can be very complicated, and everyone has their own way of presenting them.

I use Web Recipe Manager to manage my own collection of recipes, and I really like it, but that's not to say you will too. So please give me some feedback - good or bad - then I can ensure you enjoy using it as well.

Check it out here.
